The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
December 18, 2006, 12:57 pmI beat the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Saturday night. I still have a lot of mini-games and side quests to do, so I'm not entirely finished with it, but I thought that I would share some thoughts.
As an enormous fan of the Zelda series, I honestly can say that this is the best Zelda game I've played. It's fun, it's epic, and the control is great.
A lot of people have given it crap for the non-pre-recorded music (which most critics call "midi" but what they fail to realize is that even if it were pre-recorded, I have no doubt that Koji Kondo would use midi to track their music). I am a big fan of the Zelda music, and I would definitely approve of better sounding music, but I can also understand that Miyamoto wants the music to be interactive, and if the music is not pre-recorded, it can be.
Some other critics have complained about the lack of voice acting. I am really glad that this game does not have any voice acting. I really prefer the style where characters will giggle or laugh or sigh or whatever, but I don't want to hear some jerk trying to sound like a Goron telling me about shit.
It's like if you watch a Miyazaki movie with subtitles, you can stomache the sometimes weird and fantastic dialog. But if you hear Christian Bale start talking about wizards and magic and shit, you start wondering what the Hell you're doing!!
Anyway. I'm not worried about it. Nintendo knows what they're doing. And the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is really amazing!
It's also pretty long, in comparison to other Zelda games. I heard it was supposed to be about 70 hours long, but I think my last savegame was around 37 hours.
